The solar network presents the first laboratory of cocciopesto waterproof application to a cistern for water storage. We will see the main application to which the finish was used in ancient times. The tank is made of reinforced concrete and over the years has deteriorated, prensentando casualties. It intervenes with a new coating, completely natural, trying to monitor in the future behavior of the coating. During the course we will analyze the restoration interventions and surface preparation, It will move to the preparation of the plaster cocciopesto, matching slaked lime and crushed briks (cocciopesto), and then spread it on the surface and work it with tools and stones to make it compact and waterproof. Finally it is over a coat of natural soap diluted to increase the water resistance and polishing.
The course is conducted by Danilo Dianti. The laboratory will be used for pure slaked lime and natural aged and earthenware certificate obtained from the crushing of bricks. During the course you will be able to attend the full course of the preparation of the plaster, just like the ancient Romans, composing mixtures starting from basic ingredients. They will not be used nor premixed, synthetic additives or concrete components . During the course we will give all informations about lime plasters, right materials to use, finishes possible.
LOGISTICS
The workshop will take place in a private building in the town of Ivrea (TO), accessible by train from Turin. It is reserved for association members in good standing with the share in 2019. Cost € 155 for members. The fee is inclusive of lunch on Saturday and Sunday, possibility of staying in basic accommodation for free.
